English version
In November 2020 we wrote an article about the return of the trio BENNIE BECCA, a project with BENNIE K and singer BECCA.
Fans started hoping for the return of BENNIE K as well; the duo has been on hiatus since 2008.
Unfortunately, the opposite announcement has been published: BENNIE K will officially disband on 24th January 2022, the day that will mark their 21st anniversary.
What’s the reason?
On their official site YUKI and CICO published a message in which they reveal that, after years of inactivity as BENNIE K, some years ago the two of them decided to release new music for their fans. The occasion was perfect to reflect on their career, so YUKI and CICO decided that the new track was supposed to be their final as BENNIE K. This is how the new song “Finale” was created. It was completed two years ago and it was supposed to be released in 2020; however, the release was postponed due to COVID.
There are several reasons why YUKI and CICO made this decision and they say it’s difficult to summarize them. One aspect was the fact that they didn’t feel the same enthusiasm as before and therefore they thought it was better to just start a new adventure. Both YUKI and CICO confirm that they will continue their musical career. In fact, YUKI has been regularly writing and producing songs for other artists.
Billboard Japan just published a last interview with the group.
The last song
BENNIE K’s last release is the digital single called “Finale” and it’s out today, on 1st December.
The digital single includes two songs: the a-side “Finale” and the b-side “DEAR COVID BUSTERS -original ver.- with BECCA“. The latter was already digitally released on 24th January 2021. We talked about it here.
Concerts on Youtube
To celebrate the release of their new digital single, the group is publishing their concerts, originally released as DVDs, on their official Youtube channel.
